Fresh off the back from two sold-out acoustic shows in Sydney, as well as a support set for KLP as part of the Great Southern Nights series, rising Sydney based dance-pop artist Chase Zera today unveils her new single “No More”, the fourth and final track that collectively makes up her debut self-titled EP. Stream and download it now HERE.
On the single, Chase notes “‘No More’ is a song about realising your worth and not letting yourself fall into limbo land with someone who doesn’t make an effort with you. It’s about being caught up somewhere between ‘friends’ and ‘dating’. I put my foot down on someone who wanted all the benefits of dating me without committing to me, when I realised I deserved better.“
Featuring pervious singles such as the arresting “Bring Me Down”, the sultry “Saving Bugs” and dance floor ready anthem “Over Here”, the collective EP is packed full with effortless production, pulsing dance beats and unapologetically honest lyrics.
“The songs on this EP were written at a pivotal point in my life where I stopped living to please other people and started to truly take care of myself. I fell in love with being in my own company and not relying on anyone or anything else to make me feel happy and whole. I felt empowered writing these songs from the perspective of moving forward, rather than feeling left behind. I wanted to release music that makes people dance when they listen to the beat and also makes people really feel something when they listen to the lyrics.“
ABOUT CHASE ZERA:
Always a creative, Chase Zera was an accomplished performer as a child, taking dancing and singing lessons as a teenager before moving onto piano, studying composition and audio engineering at the Australian Institute of Music and attending Ableton Live School for intensive lessons in music production. Equipped with the knowledge and the tools, Chase started writing in a wide array of genres, soon to discover that it was a combination of pop and electronic music that she’d envisioned for her project and high-energy performances.
“Growing up as a dancer and being immersed in performing arts, I decided I wanted to be a performer before I figured out I wanted to perform as a musician” Chase says.
Chase launched her project last year with three striking singles “Clovers”, “Mess” and “Said I Would” - all receiving triple j airplay, glowing press attention, over half a million combined streams and providing the soundtrack to last year's live shows which included festival performances at Curve Ball, Wine Machine, NYE In The Park and support tours for the likes of Bag Raiders and Hayden James.
