SAFIA ANNOUNCE “STORY’S START OR END” LIVE EP RELEASE

+ PROFITS FROM EXCLUSIVE MERCH BUNDLE WILL GO TO SUPPORT ACT

In August 2019 SAFIA released their second album Story’s Start or End and completed a hugely successful Australian tour, with seven of the shows sold out. Today on the one-year anniversary of the release the band are announcing the release of a Live EP from the Australian tour to celebrate the incredible work of their touring crew.

For one week from today the band will be selling an exclusive merch bundle comprising of the Live EP and a limited-edition t-shirt, with all profits going to Support Act to help crew affected by COVID-19.

The songs on the Live EP were recorded across various shows on the album tour and were mixed by Alex Gooden, who mixed the original album, and tours with the band as their FOH Engineer. The EP captures both the energy of live music (which we are all missing) and celebrates the talents of many music industry professionals currently out of work due to COVID-19.

Says the band: “One of our proudest achievements since starting this band is how we’ve been able to grow our live show into what it is today. We owe this to our crew! Over the past few years they have worked tirelessly to help us improve every facet of our show and their unwavering passion and dedication keeps pushing us to make it better. So, in celebration of the 1st anniversary of our album Story’s Start or End, we've decided to release a Live EP bundle with all proceeds going to Support Act, who are providing much needed relief for those who work in the music industry. Without all of the crew and team members working behind the scenes the show would most certainly not go on, so this is the least we could do to give a little back!”

Support Act will apply the funds collected to support their work to assist artists and music workers in crisis. Support Act is Australia’s only charity delivering crisis relief services to music artists and music workers as a result of financial hardship, ill health, injury or mental health issues.

Accolades for the Story’s Start or End album were full of praise with GQ saying “Listening to it from top to bottom is like riding a wave of transcendental bliss.”, the Courier Mail awarding it 4.5 stars and saying “the bands attention to detail is obvious - each layer and each sound has a place and purpose. And, each of the 13 tracks is a unique gift for the listener to unwrap” and LNWY hailing it’s “swirling, cinematic production”.

Written and produced by the band over 2.5 years in their hometown Canberra, Story’s Start or End showcased the Australian three-piece’s bold vision and fine attention to detail, with intricate production and adventurous arrangements underpinning thoughtful musings on identity, growth, and understanding. As a band they are known for forging entire sonic landscapes with rich, cinematic detail and Story’s Start or End continues that not only sonically but also visually through their live shows.
