HERE'S SOME OF THE INCREDIBLE ACTS YOU'LL BE SPENDING NYE WITH...

HOCKEY DAD

What began as a pastime during surfless days, Windang’s favourite sons, Hockey Dad, have now been a band for 10 years. With three album releases they have amassed a legion of fans that have seen them headlining tours across the world and performing main stage sets at some of the world's biggest festivals.

After their ARIA #2 for their third album ‘Brain Candy’ in 2020, their newest release ‘Rebuild Repeat’ has the band stretching themselves creatively and embracing new sounds which takes the band into an invigorating new direction.

‘Still Have Room’ was first taste of ‘Rebuild Repeat’ for fans which they embraced, voting the song in at #45 in triple j’s annual Hottest 100 countdown of 2023, their 8th entry over the history of the countdown.

SURF TRASH

With their music resonating with the echoes of their road-tested authenticity, Surf Trash promises a sonic experience that captures the essence of their live performances. The anticipation builds as the band prepares to release their upcoming album ‘The Only Place I Know’, slated for release this September.

With a nod to the 90s Australian rock scene that influenced them, including revered acts like The Celebrate Rifles and Radio Birdman, Surf Trash has honed their raw live sound – a signature feature renowned by their fans from their extensive road ventures. Following their monumental USA tour in November and a sold-out national Australian tour last year, complemented by notable festival appearances across the country, we are thrilled to welcome the band to kick off the new year!

DADA JONES

2024 sees the Introduction of Dada Jones, the new project from Jess Kent, fusing UK garage, drum and bass, and club electronic vibes. With a knack for blending dancefloor energy with pop allure, Dada Jones has already hit the ground running with debut release “Drunk Text Me” with support from Editorial at DSP’s & radio support from Radio 1 & Triple J. Recently signed to DnB Allstars and now teaming up with Etc Etc in Australia, Dada’s upcoming releases promise a fresh and exciting new sonic direction, culminating in multiple releases before they hit the stage at NYE on the Hill!

JOINING...

MALLRAT

Mallrat has grown from her Brisbane roots to become one of Australia's most beloved singer-songwriters. With hits like "Uninvited," "Better," and” Groceries," she has captured the hearts of many, leading to numerous festival appearances and a significant presence on triple j. "Charlie" catapulted her to the top three of the triple j Hottest 100 and led to her first appearance on US television, cementing her place as a bona fide young icon.

Over the past five years, Mallrat has released three EPs and several notable collaborations, consistently evolving her sound. Her latest single, "Rockstar," showcases this growth, blending indie dream pop and alt-rock influences. Mallrat’s music, celebrated for its honesty and relatability, continues to resonate deeply, marking her as a prominent figure in the Australian music scene.

THE DREGGS

Originating from the Sunshine Coast, where they combined their love for surfing and music, The Dreggs are an exciting indie-folk duo from Australia's vibrant music scene consisting of Paddy Macrae and Zane Harris. Starting as a cover act performing at local pubs and cafes, the duo are now selling out shows in Australia and abroad.

Their debut album, "Caught in a Reverie" was recorded on the Sunshine and Gold Coasts and features tracks like "Places," "Take A Little Time," and "For Your Love," which have become festival favorites. In 2023, The Dreggs graced stages at festivals such as Spilt Milk, Queenscliff Music Festival, and NYE on the Hill, performing alongside artists like Dermot Kennedy and Post Malone.

TEEN JESUS AND THE JEAN TEASERS

Teen Jesus and the Jean Teasers and their punk-rock sound, packed with heart and wit, has made them one of Australia’s most exciting voices. Since their 2019 debut, the band has demonstrated an impressive evolution through numerous releases and performances, culminating in their highly anticipated 2023 debut studio album, I Love You. This album, following the 2022 EP Pretty Good For A Girl Band, combines the band’s formative experiences with a renewed creative direction. We can't wait to welcome back Teen Jesus and the Jean Teasers as they deliver pure joy, rage, and euphoria with precision and heart.

RUM JUNGLE

Hailing from Newcastle, Rum Jungle blends surf rock and alt-pop to create their signature sun-soaked sound, featuring pop melodies on psych guitars and chilled groove beats. Their latest EP, Hold Me In The Water, showcases a diverse range of sounds, representing the culmination of their exploratory journey in previous releases.

Rum Jungle has built a dedicated fan base through their previous EPs and live performances, selling out shows nationwide and appearing at festivals like Groovin the Moo, This That, and Falls Festival. Their achievements include charting in triple j's hottest 200 and a notable "Like A Version" cover of Rihanna's "Stay." Excited to welcome Rum Jungle to the Hill this NYE!

SOUTH SUMMIT

After meeting at a backyard party and bonding over diverse musical tastes, it took some persuasion to bring all members of South Summit together. Hidden from the trends of the East Coast music scene and now one of Perth's most acclaimed live bands, South Summit has crafted a truly unique sound.

Despite their cultural and musical diversity, they share a passion for connecting with audiences—from family gatherings to festival stages and even performances in WA prisons. Rejecting the traditional music industry path, South Summit's buzzworthy live shows demonstrate their growing fan base. Not bad for five mates from Perth!

GO-JO

Go-Jo, the solo project of emerging pop star Marty Zambotto, grew up off the grid on a self-sustained property in remote Western Australia, shaping his unique sound and character. Starting with his first guitar at 13, Go-Jo initially produced and wrote songs for others before honing his own voice and launching his solo project.

What distinguishes Go-Jo is his exceptional ability to write, produce, record, mix, master, and perform, coupled with a natural talent for connecting with fans both in person and online. He creatively delivers his music to new audiences, always exploring fresh ways to blend his catchy tunes with his captivating personality and distinctive style.

GOLD FANG

Gold Fang has forged a distinct path in Australia's music landscape. Born in Trinidad & Tobago and moving to Australia at 17, Gold Fang embraced a rich musical heritage. His breakout on F-POS' "Classic" and subsequent collaboration with Big Skeez on 'Where Yuh From' under NLV Records marked pivotal moments in his career.

Since joining NLV, Gold Fang has released a string of acclaimed singles, amassed over 5 million Spotify streams, and supported Lil Nas X in Sydney. With his debut mixtape 'SMOOVE KILLA' now released, Gold Fang continues to showcase his versatility and distinctive voice to captivate audiences worldwide.

NYE ON THE HILL ORIGIN STORY

NYE on the Hill grew out of The Hills Are Alive Festival, a unique and much-loved event that began as an invite-only party on a hill for 334 music-loving friends-of-friends (many of whom were musicians in the local Melbourne music scene).

The original concept, which still thrives today, is that anyone, at any time, should be able to turn to the person next to them, introduce themselves, and then party together like old friends while discovering the best up-and-coming musical talent the region has to offer.
