Evan Klar has long been the behind-the scenes, go-to name for collaboration. The Melbourne songwriter, producer and self-confessed bedroom-pop addict shares a new track titled Make The Most Of This (LISTEN HERE) and is the lead single to be revealed off a forthcoming EP which is expected to be released later this year.
Make The Most Of This which premiered via Best Before was written and produced in Stockholm where Klar collaborated with Swedish pop giant Nikki Lif (LÈON, Sandro Cavazza, Skott). They have grown to become tight friends through the process of finishing the single. They enjoy sharing that they wrote the song on a nylon string guitar in front of a copy of Mona Lisa whose eyes were replaced with glowing green LEDs, they claim that she had them under hypnosis. The perfect pop track that will have you coming back for more
“I wanted to write a song using the happy voice in my head, the one that occasionally makes an appearance when I need cheering up.” Explains Klar, “A voice of motivation is so important, I sometimes wish I had a shoulder angel to count on. If I had one then Make The Most Of This would be our song, we'd sing and dance to it together.
But what's cool about songs is that they can mean whatever you want them to. That moment when you’re having a bad day and you find a few bucks in a pocket you forgot about, your mum telling you you’re the best thing that ever happened to her, a high five from a friend or just the entire plot from Good Will Hunting.. it can be want ever you want.”
Following an already ambitious year of releases, Make the Most of This follows closely behind last month's collab ‘Figure It Out’, which features the spellbinding voice and co-production from Berlin's rising star Novaa was named in Purple Sneakers Best Songs Of 2020 (So Far).
Earlier in January Klar also released ‘I Do’ which was added to the triple j playlist. The chilled-out electro-pop track was co-produced with Tobias Kuhn (Milky Chance) and crafted with a broken bass guitar, pocket synth with verse vocals recorded on a mobile phone. Watch the official video HERE.
2020 is set to be a massive year ahead for Klar, who has not only produced and co-written the upcoming LP from Kate Miller-Heidke but also a long stream of international and Australian releases from the likes of Austen, Marloe and Essie Holt with more amazing collabs in the works which are yet to be revealed.
