MELBOURNE FOUR-PIECE MINIBIKES REVEAL 70s CHANNELING VIDEO FOR LATEST INDIE JAM ‘I CAN FEEL YA’

+ Freaky Dreams LP out Friday 12 June

Beloved Melbourne outfit Minibikes aren’t letting a little doom and gloom get in the way of releasing some of the warmest tunes you’ll hear this winter. The sunshine conjurers have just released their latest indie jangle ‘I Can Feel Ya’ lifted off their forthcoming LP Freaky Dreams and are excited to celebrate with a bright new video clip out now.

Visually stunning, Minibikes’ haunting new video captures a quintessentially ‘70s vibe through a Cindy Sherman meets Puberty Blues aesthetic framing a giddy protagonist as she lounges, dances and tends to her little friends at home. An afternoon soirée for two, the Angie Black directed clip envelopes the track’s happy-go-lucky energy in an eccentric mismatch of bygone times and future prospects.

“I love dance on screen and the concept began as a woman home alone, largely playing on the gender stereotype of being lonely and vulnerable. We wanted to subvert the cinematic notions of women isolated and decaying mental health. Collaborating with Marce and Amanda Morris the choreographer, dancer was a lot of fun. Everyone on the same page both aesthetically and creatively. We were open to influence and suggestion from all the key creatives. We never tired of hearing the song. It’s still on high rotation in our playlists. It’s such a smooth track.” - Angie Black

“This clip was such fun to make! It’s so eerie because it’s depicting someone living in isolation, staying at home and being cut off from the world. We made the clip well before the lockdown and never imagined this was about to become a daily reality for the world at large.” - Marcel Borrack

Minibikes have been soundtracking Australia’s endless summer for over a decade now, releasing their debut collection of tropicana rock ‘n roll For Woods Or Trail in 2011. Since then the somewhat elusive four-piece of Marcel Borrack, Libby Chow, Nathan Farrelly and Al Barden have been scarce on the live music scene, having played a handful of intimate gigs in their time together, but are gearing up to change this trend in a post-COVID world, no doubt to welcome their forthcoming album Freaky Dreams to the world. Their sophomore LP was recorded with Tim Harvey (Jade Imagine, Gena Rose Bruce) and is set to be released Friday 12 June through local label Cheersquad Records & Tapes. Pre-orders, including limited edition vinyl, available now through Cheersquad’s Bandcamp. Dive in!
