“It’s Personal stunningly poses a grown-up approach to heartbreak… when a quaking heart produces such high-class songwriting, there’s really nothing to complain about.” - Beat Magazine | AOTW - 9/10 STARS

"This guy is the real deal, he's a direct hit”
- Mikey Cahill, The Herald Sun

"Melbourne darlings FERLA are Australia's answer to Mac Demarco"
- AAA Backstage

"it's got an 80s classic Australiana feel to it buried in that drive and emotion."
- Declan Byrne, triple j

FERLA unveil a stand-alone single, ‘Desire Machine’ and announce Melbourne headline show. Continuing to deliver on their distinctive after-dark pop, the track follows the release of their AMP nominated debut album It’s Personal and acclaimed double EP Guilt-Pop/Stay-Posi.

Of the track, Giuliano says: “In the past little while I’ve managed to change my attitude on other people’s successes. When I get jealous I now have the tools to be able to deal with it. It’s taken a bit of work and self-acceptance. It’s also taken a bit of a reframing of where the envy comes from. And this is it: I accept myself as a desire machine. And by that I mean that desire doesn’t come from a lack of something but is a thing in and of itself. And I produce it. I want and want and I can’t stop. But the desire is no longer framed as something that is lacking within me, but rather as a product of being human. I have enough, I do enough, I am enough. But there is always a ‘but’. Something about this realisation shifted all the emotions around. That’s what the new song is about. I am a desire machine. But I’m in possession of myself. And that’s something to celebrate."

Titled It’s Personal because it’s personal, FERLA’s 2019 debut album condenses a tumultuous year of Giuliano Ferla’s life into 39 minutes of music and lyrics.  The album was AOTW at Beat Magazine, feature on Edge Radio and 4ZZZ and has been nominated for an Australian Music Prize. FERLA has since performed live on Triple R and PBS and played headline shows to adoring crowds in Sydney, Canberra, Wollongong, Castlemaine and Melbourne. FERLA has previously supported Rolling Blackouts Coastal Fever, Cash Savage And The Last Drinks, Totally Mild and Gabriella Cohen.

FERLA will play a headline show at Melbourne institution, Old Bar, on Saturday 23 Nov with special guests Electric Toothbrush, Spike Vincent (solo) and Affection.
