Polarize Lucky Eye EP is out today. Showcasing the band’s knack for emotive and expansive alt-rock, the EP features a new single 'Lucky Eye' as well as previously released tracks ‘Friends Again’, 'Eugene's Calling' & ‘Big Old Kid’. Polarize has announced an EP launch at The John Curtin in Melbourne on Friday 9 April.

Polarize are expressive but calm, self-aware but not self-conscious, tight but not obnoxious. Mixed by Colin Leadbetter (Leah Senior, Whitley, Girlatones) and mastered by Mikey Young (Total Control, Eddy Current Suppression Ring) the 5 track EP comes together to form a weekend soundtrack, taking you from the cool giddiness of pre-drinks and out into the night, from the sharehouse kitchen dancefloor to the post-party crash and Sunday comedown.

Vocalist Rudie Dood's delivery is nonchalant but never careless. He narrates a night out or a week in with the same fluency. Of the title track, he explains, “Lucky Eye is the oldest song on the EP, I’ve had the riff and verse sections since 2016. I like the change of pace it gives the track, from the bluesy shuffle to a psych freak out. The songs touches on a few subjects, but I’ve got a lazy eye so I thought it would be funny to imagine it being a superpower that allows me to see through people, hence ‘lucky eye’. I like the change of pace it gives the track, from the bluesy shuffle to a psych freak out."

The EP takes on a palette of influences, from the British post-punk sounds of The Clashand New Order, through to more modern takes from MGMT and The Strokes. The transitions are seamless. You’re in safe hands.
