THE COUNT’S RELEASE THEIR 2021 ARTIST PROGRAM

The Count’s announce their 2021 program featuring Jake Mason Trio, Thando, Kee’Ahn, Paul Grabowsky, Audrey Powne and many more. Formerly known as the Jazz Club, The Count’s brings a new name, a new look and a new attitude.

Housed in the Ian Potter Centre for Performing Arts at Monash University, The Count’s is a sophisticated jazz oasis right in the middle of the suburbs, and your new home for live music in Melbourne’s South-East. Featuring live performances Wednesday to Friday nights, the club hosts soul, jazz, R’n’B, French chanson, Ethio-jazz and more.


Wednesday nights will feature an incredible list of award-winning jazz artists in residence.

Jake Mason Trio + special guests - Wednesdays in May
Hammond organ soul-jazz is the speciality of the Jake Mason Trio, quickly becoming one of Australia’s favourite jazz acts. Across four nights in May, the trio will perform tracks from their ARIA Jazz Album of the Year nominated record “Stranger in the Mirror” and premiere new compositions.

Audrey Powne Quartet + special guests - Wednesdays in June
A Monash University School of Music Jazz Alumni, this special residency is a homecoming celebration for composer/vocalist and trumpet player Audrey Powne. Premiering new material and music from her critically acclaimed solo debut “Bed I Made” Audrey will soothe, captivate and inspire.

Paul Grabowsky’s New Grooves - Wednesdays in July
One of Australia’s most respected musical figures, multi ARIA-award winning jazz composer and pianist Paul Grabowsky returns to The Count’s to present “New Grooves”. Across four weeks in July, Paul will curate and perform with a diverse range of musicians, songwriters and performers presenting original jazz, classic favourites and more.


Thursday nights in July pick up the tempo with a mix of funk, soul and R’n’B.

Bumpy - Thursday 8 July
A proud Noongar woman from regional Victoria, soulful vocalist and songwriter Bumpy presents an introspective view into her truths as a First Nations artist whilst delving into a world where vulnerability is power.

Kee’Ahn - Thursday 15 July
Winner of the Archie Roach Award at the 2020 National Indigenous Music Awards, and best emerging talent at The 2020 Music Victoria Awards, soulful vocalist/ songwriter Kee’Ahn makes her debut performance at The Count’s.

Solomon Sisay - Thursday 22 July
Internationally acclaimed saxophonist Solomon Sisay makes his debut at The Count's, presenting his take on Ethio-jazz with his five-piece band.

Thando - Thursday 29 July
Zimbabwean songstress Thando returns to The Count’s, accompanied by Mike Pensini. Sharing her repertoire of original music, Thando will take you on a journey of love and heartbreak.


And to kick off your Fridays in style, the house DJs spin vinyl selections during cocktail hour from 4 PM - 7 PM, with delicious food and drinks available for purchase courtesy of Script bar and dining. Enjoy free parking, accessible entrance and the relaxed atmosphere of South-East’s new live music hub, The Count's.
