HOPE D RELEASES OFFICIAL VIDEO FOR ‘SECOND’ AND ANNOUNCES RESCHEDULED TOUR DATES

After releasing her confessional and relatable debut single “Swim” just last year, earning songwriting comparisons to the likes of Tegan & Sara and Alex The Astronaut, Brisbane’s Hope D returns with new single “Second”.

Remaining true to her ability to write personal and confessional lyrics that connect with listeners, this time Hope D has stepped up to the plate with a bit more punch. Now with a full band behind her, Hope shows a different side of her musical style, shocking listeners with a range of different sounds and themes.

New single “Second” gives you an edgy and pulsing track filled with driving guitars, whirling synth, angsty vocals and charm-filled lyricism from this exciting artist on the cusp of something new.
The video captures the themes of post-drinking self-reflection featured in the track, as Hope goes through a surreal over-exaggerated series of terrible actions on a night out at the pub, and then pays for her actions.

“The song is meant to be a big ode to having a loose night and, at the time of being rowdy and pretty blurry, not caring about the consequences.

But when waking up the next morning, the combination of the staggered flashbacks and the hypnotic hangover (which you have to do a full shift with) constantly reminds you of the things you wouldn't want to remember. It's that feeling of guilt and regret, and it literally feels like you can't escape from it all, like you're in prison.
No amount of Berocca can fix that shit. I thought of the whole concept when I was ready to break out of the forgetful cycle and 'escape from jail', therefore having no more reasons to feel shitty the next day. I like to think that I haven't had to wear that metaphorical black and white jumpsuit since writing the song, haha.”

Hope D has cancelled her upcoming single tour that was set for April, and has rescheduled the shows for October.
All ticket holders can retain their ticket for the new dates, or have them refunded at point of purchase.
