“...woozy, more electronic-tinged solo work that comes with a tonne of excitement and promise for the future.” - Pilerats

“I'm on a brand new sonic adventure with this one...You'd get lost if you didn't have the steadying hand of Munik on your shoulder showing you the way.” - Dave Ruby Howe, triple j Unearthed

Melbourne producer Munik (Aden Senycia) has spent in the last decade working as a producer with artists such as Nicholas Allbrook (Pond), Peter Bibby, Rabbit Island, Dianas, Body Type, as well as performing as one half of electro-pop outfit Flower Drums. Today Munik follows up his debut solo single ’Kmart’ ft. Nicholas Allbrook, with a new track titled ‘Higher Type’ - LISTEN HERE

Armed with a wide range of techniques gained from his work as a producer, Munik’s solo project creates a world of distinctly wistful beat-driven electronic-pop. The new single ‘Higher Type’ showcases a tender assemblage of sounds, featuring lively hiccup beats and artfully manipulated vocal hooks atop a determined bass synthesiser.

Lyrically, ‘Higher Type’ tackles themes of disingenuous expression of moral values, righteousness and the pursuit of authenticity. It’s is a slice of 90’s pop bliss, channelling Muniks inner boy-band, combined with flourishes of contemporary beat making. The composition weaves all that exciting guitar saturation and ambience amongst a playfully crystalline synth. Emphasising the more delicate sugary stylings of this new project, with influences from Blood Orange, Yuno, Tirzah, Orion Sun and Pool Cosby.

Premiered by Pilerats, his debut single ‘Kmart’, quickly caught the attention of industry tastemakers, as well as support from triple j and Unearthed presenters. With Flower Drums, Munik gained extensive touring experience, performing at Laneway Festival, touring the US and supporting the likes of Client Liaison, The Jungle Giants, Methyl Ethel and Kucka. The duo garnered some serious radio clout and press coverage from Rolling Stone, Oyster, Purple Sneakers and The Fader and more.

Now with a debut solo EP on its way, Munik marks himself as an artist to watch in 2021.
