It’s been a busy time for Georgia June with a multitude of shows in the past six months including headline dates, support slots and festival sets. Today they return with new single 'Baby Blue', a cathartic track which comes along with a cinematic video.

Says Georgia of the track: There’s no way to avoid what this song was written about, I think I would be doing the song a disservice to its honesty and experience.

At the time, a dear family friend, a mother and wife had passed away in a tragic car accident. I was devastated for the family and shaken by how quickly life can change. Two weeks after the accident, I was at Laneway Festival and spent the day with one of my best friends. As the day progressed, I became hyper-aware of my surroundings, overwhelmed by the blue sky and in awe of the excitement and beauty around me. I felt gratitude for my friends and family as well as an appreciation of that moment, considering the fleeting nature of life. The next day, I wrote ‘Baby Blue’ and immediately knew that this song was the most meaningful song I had ever written. Recording the track was crushing and cathartic, but as we unveiled the landscape and palette of sounds, I knew we could capture the emotion of the song faithfully.

The ‘Baby Blue’ video was directed by Harry Welsh (The Rubens, Shady Nasty) and shot by Cinematographer Ben Lindberg (DMA's, Donny Benet, The Rubens, DZ Deathrays and Brightness). The cinematic video, filmed in open Australiana landscapes, captures forms of grief centred around two characters travelling in cars.

Alongside the new single is the announcement of a run of headline tour dates set for April/May.

In 2019 the band released two well received singles 'Prove Myself' and ‘Try Again’ before gracing the stages at Yours and Owls and Festival of the Sun stages.

Georgia June has previously supported The Preatures, Lime Cordiale and Ali Barter, as well as played Falls Festival, Bad Friday and Secret Garden festivals.

With a blend of charging guitars, exciting melodies and a relentless rhythm section, Georgia June’s output is driven by stories of both vulnerability and strength. Fiercely DIY, Georgia June has built up their community of fans through constant touring.
