ASH KENNEDY SERENADES WITH SOULFUL SOPHOMORE ‘CHOCOLATE IN THE MORNING’

Ash Kennedy is following up her successful self-released debut with an intimate, playful and buttery sophomore single Chocolate In The Morning; an isolation love song with extra cheese about indulging and being 200% okay with it.

Her debut single Point Of View received overwhelming praise from triple j and taste-maker blogs, and moving forward Ash Kennedy hopes to keep you trapped in her personal bubble with her intimate second single Chocolate In The Morning.

In Chocolate In The Morning, Ash masterfully weaves a food related love affair that throws shade at negative diet cultures and body image issues to tell a story of love beyond superficiality.

Ash’s lyrics are raw and refreshing, reclaiming ‘fat’ as an endearing notion, blasting her insecurities open shamelessly, as she and her love interest learn to love their bodies in all their forms.

Once again joining forces with Ben Oldland (Jaydean, Raria, Taylor Piggot) to co-write and produce, the pair began the song during a Zoom writing session that quickly devolved into sharing isolation love stories.

"I spilled to Ben about my new iso-boyfriend; who is an amazing cook, my best friend, but cringes at the thought of pet names and big romantic gestures. We laughed at how I playfully taunt him by referring to him as ‘pumpkin’ and other food related pet names. I’m a teeny bit of a stirrer, so I thought it would be hilarious to write a song about our relationship in isolation with extra cheese!"

Ash stays true to her sonic playground with modern pop influences, such as Ariana Grande, and a hint of nostalgia from her Jazz and Soul roots. Ash is delicate and thoughtful with her vocal, over a bed of warm harmonies she delivers a pop-fueled memorable melody that invites her listener into a fuzzy Sunday morning bed.

"Feels like I'm baking on a lazy, fuzzy Sunday at home! And far out that's a hard thing to make someone feel through song. I need more!"

"Hearing this song feels like putting on a really warm perfectly baggy jumper that smells like roses and spiced rum. You've nailed this genre completely and I can't wait to hear more. PS. That endnote/run at like 3.30 gave me chills!"
