marigolden’s newest single ‘Just Like Smoke’ (out on March 19) showcases the Melbourne-based musician’s unique brand of neo-soul, alt-RnB and folk-roots through her earthy tones, laid-back style and smooth, free-flowing energy.

To accompany her sophomore single, marigolden has released a simple yet compelling music video for ‘Just Like Smoke’ that highlights the track’s powerful sentiment of self-belief through minimalistic frames and relatable content.

A compilation of creative eye-level shots, the video provides a level of intimacy to the viewer, positioning them as a fly-on-the-wall witnessing an ordinary day in the life of marigolden (Mel O’Neill).

Innovatively framed imagery of O’Neill performing mundane tasks brings an enthralling relatability and realism to the music video as she slowly goes about her day, demonstrating the importance of moving at your own pace.

Written about embracing impermanence and investing in yourself, ‘Just Like Smoke’ sees marigolden find a powerful inner strength, depicted in the video through O’Neill making time to enjoy the little things; from sleeping in to spending time with family and friends.
