Adelaide alt-rock outfit Larsen are known for delivering explosive tracks bursting with overdriven guitars, punchy riffs and aching lyrics, with their latest single ‘Eating Me Alive’ (out on April 16) as no exception.

Since debuting five years ago, Larsen have made their mark on the Australian alt-rock scene, collecting a huge back catalogue of releases charged with their distinctive brand of energetic grunge and lyrical angst.

Following last year’s single release trifecta, Larsen are hungry for more, unveiling ‘Eating Me Alive’, a resilient and emotional track that sees the boys really come into their own as songwriters.

Featuring turbulent drums and electric guitar layers boasting persistent riffs, ‘Eating Me Alive’ is stuffed with chunky bits of flying alt-rock shrapnel. Making way for the full force of Larsen’s angst-inducing lyrical prowess in the verses, delivered by frontman Liam Christensen’s distinct gravelly tone, an unabashed crescendo of instrumental grunge re-emerges for the choruses. Kicked up yet another notch for the outro, the track satisfies any and all punk-rock cravings.

Written about the overwhelming pressure that comes from chasing dreams and ambitions, ‘Eating Me Alive’ surges with a defiant strength that showcases a developing maturity in the boys’ songwriting. Alex Andrews explains:

“Accepting that expectations for achieving your goals can be unrealistic is a key part of the song. Just because you haven’t reached those heights yet doesn’t mean you should feel defeated by that, nor should you change who you are or become someone else entirely just to do it. We are not defined by our ambitions or the person we think we need to become to achieve them. Instead, we are defined by the journey to the end result.”

Well-versed in delivering wild live performances, Larsen have shared the stage with Australian acts including the Dune Rats, WAAX, Delta Riggs, The Bennies, The Gooch Palms, Towns and Pinkish Blue, as well as international acts Moose Blood, Hundredth and Deaf Havanna.

Larsen's single 'Eating Me Alive' is out worldwide on Friday, April 16, with plenty more to come from the Adelaide boys in 2021. They will be on tour throughout May and June, playing a string shows across South Australia, Victoria and Tasmania.
