DOUBLE DRUMMER RELEASES DOMINIC BREEN’S MOVING NEW SINGLE ‘JAMES STREET TONIGHT’

The first track to be released in 2021 from Sydney's emerging singer/songwriter Dominic Breen is the beautiful 'James Street Tonight'.

"Let me come over to James Street tonight,

I promise I won't try and get us back together..."

A song that somehow captures feelings of both yearning and acceptance, 'James Street Tonight' features a gorgeous mid-tempo melody that pulls at the heart strings. Breen’s introspective, wistful lyrics plead to keep the flame of connection alive, while at the same time accepting the futility of trying to rekindle lost passion.

"I don't want to bother ya,

I just wanna know you, again..."

It’s a moving, hook-laden and highly relatable homage to the futility of trying to hold onto something that’s beyond repair. “This is one of my favourite songs that our label has ever released,” says Double Drummer co-founder Edward Prescott. “It strikes such a nerve – the melodies are amazing and the raw honesty of it stops you in your tracks - I feel like crying every time I hear it.”

‘James Street Tonight’, which Richard Kingsmill premiered on his 'Triple j 2021 program' this week is another step towards Dominic's debut album, recorded in Sydney over the past six months with Middle Kids’ member and production impresario Tim Fitz at the helm. Fitz also played pedal steel and bass on the track, with the rest of the instrumentation handled entirely by Breen.

The album is currently in the final stages of production, with more new tracks to be released in the first half of this year. A title and release date will be announced shortly.
