CHASE ZERA RETURNS WITH HER SULTRY NEW SINGLE: SAVING BUGS

Rising Sydney singer/songwriter/producer/dancer Chase Zera today returns with her sultry new single “Saving Bugs”, the follow up to her bold debut “Bring Me Down” on Warner Music Australia.

The self-professed ‘Pop baby”, Chase makes no apologies for her effortless electro-pop sound. Produced by Xavier Dunn (CXLOE, Jack River, GRAACE), the groovy new single showcases Chase’s bluesy vocals atop a bed of dancefloor ready beats.

Inspired by the like of Benee and Aurora and their metaphoric laden ballads on wolves and spiders, Chase Zera explains the meaning and inspiration behind “Saving Bugs”:

“One day I was floating on a lilo in my pool and I noticed these tiny bugs floating upside down with their little legs running in the air trying to flip themselves over, so I scooped them up and put them back on the tiles to save them from drowning.

I took that idea of saving bugs from drowning in a pool and thought of how it could represent the proud feeling I've had witnessing people I love flourish and grow and become independent after moving on from something that had been burdening or hurting them. To me it was a tough love situation like, 'Here you go, I'll always be here to help, you don't need me though, you can do this, I know you got this'.

Once I tied the literal situation and the metaphor together, I was so inspired and excited and the song wrote itself in about an hour.”

Always a creative, Chase Zera (aka Ebony Morrison) was an accomplished dancer as a child, taking singing lessons as a teenager before moving onto piano, studying composition and audio engineering at the Australian Institute of Music and attending Ableton Live School for intensive lessons in music production; equipped with the knowledge and the tools, Ebony started by writing a mixture of midtempo and blues, soon to discover that it didn't quite resonate with what she had envisioned for her performances.

"A lot of musicians say 'Oh I love making music but I never wanted to be a performer'. I actually wanted to be a performer before I knew I wanted to be a musician," Chase says.

Chase launched her project last year with three striking singles Clovers”“Mess” and Said I Would - all receiving triple j airplay, glowing press attention, over 500,000 combined streams and providing the soundtrack to last year's live shows which included festival performances at Curve Ball, Wine Machine, NYE In The Park and support tours for the likes of Bag Raiders and Hayden James.
