Melbourne based multi-instrumentalist Boats aka, Blake Paterson shares new single and accompanying video for ‘Falling Off Rainbows’. Speaking to the state of fluxed ideologies, bipolar politics and environmental degradation, the single is the first taste of his forthcoming EP, set for release in early 2020. Today Boats also announce a string of full-band shows at The Tote in Melbourne, playing Sunday afternoons throughout December.

Of the track, Blake says “‘Falling Off Rainbows’ brought fear and vertigo upon awakening from recurring bad dreams as a child. Much like the way I feel sometimes about the current state of affairs as more and more I choose to open my eyes. It’s about failure, continuing to fail, continuing to fall off something that is beautiful.” The video, directed and shot by John Fish "is an interpretation of contemporary gridlock between groups of people with mixed ideologies and the failure and tension between them."

Boats forthcoming EP, produced by Simon Lam (Klo, iIls) and Andrew Szekeres (Midnight Juggernauts) is a compilation of tracks that continue to explore existential and dystopian trajectories.  The release is accompanied by a four-piece illustration series by Ilya Milstein, which presents a visual interpretation of each track.

Boats perform live throughout December with bandmates Geordie Miller (Client Liaison) on synth and guitar and Leigh Fisher (Kirkis, Angus Julia Stone, Dope Lemon) on drums.
