Brisbane party-starting rockers Beddy Rays return in 2020 with a belter of a single titled Sobercoaster, alongside an official video. Think of it as your weekend kick-off singalong, the soundtrack to your Friday afternoon – so scrub up and give ‘em hell kid!

Sobercoaster (which premiered on the airwaves via triple j Home and Hosed), mixed and recorded by Brock Weston of Bugs, is an ode to the freedom and carelessness of a misspent youth and showcases their own distinct blend of indie punk/surf rock, reminiscent of their musical heroes’ and kings of the beach Wavves and Dookie-era Green Day.

Frontman Jackson Van Issum explains: “We always have these older figures telling us to grow up, stop going out and running amok with our mates because we should be saving for a house and setting ourselves up for the future. But right now I’m not even thinking about that stuff. It’s really about living in the moment and knowing that one day when the bottle runs dry we might end up joining the ‘Sobercoaster’, just not yet”.

The official video (WATCH HERE) which was directed by Stephanie Teixeira of Cisca Studio. “We wanted the video to just tell the story of the song exactly how it is - our best mates just having a sick time together. Not really much more than that!”

From a friendship formed on the primary school oval to the sticky soles of the mosh pit floor, JacksonBradleyLewis and Benjamin are four young tradies who grew up together in a suburb just outside of Brisbane called Redland Bay (which is best and lovingly known as Reddy Bay). After throwing a few horrible names around they switched the letters of their hometown and bada-bing-bada-boom… Beddy Rays.

The fledgling band first emerged in 2017 with their debut EP ‘Lost Found Beat Around’ which is brimming with scuzzy bedroom jams, and then followed it up in late 2019 with the sharper and more defined sound with an ode to broken relationships, Kicked. The band have since gone on to cut their teeth on the road securing support slots for some of Australia’s biggest exports among the likes of Tones And IDune Rats and Hockey Dad.

Beddy Rays have already proven themselves to be a powerful live act with wrecking ball momentum. In such a short amount of time they have managed to solidify not only their lifelong friendships, but also a community of fans that continues to spread throughout Australia and beyond. These four young Reddy Bay boys are champing at the bit to make their mark.
