A CARRY 4 COINS ADDS SWEATER CURSE & PINK MATTER TO STACKED LINE UP

NEXT FRI 5 FEB 2021 AT FORTITUDE MUSIC HALL, YUGGERA (BRISBANE)

RAISING FUNDS FOR BLACK RAINBOW & ABORIGINAL & TORRES STRAIT ISLANDER LGBTQIA+ COMMUNITY

Fundraising initiative and benefit concert A Carry 4 Coins has today added two incredible acts, Sweater Curse and Pink Matter, to it’s already stacked line up. Due to border closures resulting from the ongoing affects of the pandemic, Malyangapa, Barkindji sister Barkaa is unable to attend the event happening next Friday 5 February at Fortitude Music Hall in Yuggera/Brisbane. The 2021 event is raising important and much-needed funds for Black Rainbow and a collective of heroic Transgender Women of Colour working within their community to raise funds for gender affirmation surgery.

Since the release of their debut EP See You in 2019, Brisbane three-piece Sweater Curse and their infectious signature post-punk indie rock have become a very welcome fixture on the Australian contemporary music scene over the past few years. Last year the trio released their second EP Push//Pull featuring favourites ‘Close’ and ‘All The Same’. The EP earned Sweater Curse worldwide praise with Paste describing the band as “more expressive and dynamic than ever” on the EP and Atwood Magazine declaring, “Sweater Curse’s feverish new indie rock record is an uncompromising overhaul turning the inside out and the outside in: ‘Push//Pull’ hits home in all the right ways.” Sweater Curse have featured on festivals such as Laneway, Falls, Farmer & The Owl and performed with the likes of The Jungle Giants, Grinspoon, Violent Soho, Middle Kids, Ball Park Music, WAAX, Bugs and Polish Club.

Also hailing from Yuggera/Brisbane, Pink Matter are redefining what it means to be an all-female band. A unique and exciting intersection between neo-soul, jazz, dance and pop, Pink Matter oozes an undeniable affection that is gaining steam and earning the trio a legion of followers and praise with each release. Placing themselves on the map in 2018, the trio released their debut EP Human Error which was produced by Grammy-nominated engineer/producer Nick Herrera. Since the EP’s release, Pink Matter have revealed a trilogy of outstanding singles including 2020’s ‘You’ll Never Know’. Earmilk has declared, “Pink Matter’s music deftly rides the line between having a fluid, wholly original sound and also maintaining a sense of clear sonic identity.”With influences ranging from The Supremes and Destiny’s Child to KAYTRANADA and The Internet, let Pink Matter smoothly wash over you next week at Fortitude Music Hall.

Following its inaugural event in February 2020, Point Blank Group (fronted by Miss Blanks) announced the 2021 return of A Carry 4 Coins - a fundraising initiative and benefit concert - and now an annual event late last year. A Carry 4 Coins 2021 is set for Fortitude Music Hall In Yuggera (Brisbane) on Friday 5 February 2021 with a stellar line featuring WAAX, Camp Cope, Mo’Ju, Tia Gostelow, Emily Wurramara, Sweater Curse and Pink Matter plus interstitial DJ’s Dameeela and Scalymoth.

As a result of the successful 2020 edition, A Carry 4 Coins will launch in 2021 as an annual event and fundraising initiative for social causes impacting communities that require support, with each annual edition addressing a different cause. In 2021, A Carry 4 Coins will be supporting Black Rainbow, an organisation and social enterprise in pursuit of the health, wellbeing and suicide prevention of the national Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander LGBTQIA+ community, and a collective* of heroic Transgender Women of Colour working within their community to raise funds for gender affirmation surgery. *for community safety the identity of the collective remains undisclosed.

"Point Blank Group are so excited to see the return of A Carry 4 Coins in 2021. This initiative has been a great example of story-telling, togetherness, community activation, and the power of humanity. When David (my business partner) and I started this event, it was us in the living room ordering dinner and texting mad friends like Kaiit, Sampa, Kira, and others to be part of this event. We couldn't stand by while we were seeing our community suffer from such a tragic event.” exclaims Miss Blanks.

“Fast forward nearly a year, we're plagued with the impacts of COVID-19 which has disproportionately affected Black, Indigenous, People of Colour, Poor people, LGBTIQA+ people, Disabled folk, Sex Workers, and many other people not represented and cared for on a social, governmental, or industrial level. I'm so excited for us to be launching A Carry 4 Coins 2021 and announce the annual event with many editions to come. It’s so important to us to help provide relief where possible so that as a community we can all feel supported, protected, seen, and heard."

In its inaugural year, A Carry 4 Coins 2020 event, held at Max Watts in Naarm (Melbourne) in February last year, was a sell out featuring musical talent Kaiit, Sampa The Great, Ecca Vandal, Kira Puru, Jesswar, and more. A Carry 4 Coins 2020 raised over $24,000 for those affected by the 2019/2020 bushfires with 100% of profits divided between Firesticks Alliance and Mogo Aboriginal Land Council.

Don’t miss this carefully curated line up and a chance to show support to and make a difference to the Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander LGBTIQ+ community. Tickets are available now HERE.
