"The neo-soul singer exudes passion and flair through her music expression." (Fine Tune Magazine)

"Drawing on jazz and folk influences, she specialises in confident reflections with passionate, freewheeling urgency." (Broaderlines)

With her laid-back, earthy and easy-listening neo-soul/ alt-RnB/ indie, Melbourne's marigolden is releasing her dulcet sophomore single 'Just Like Smoke' (Out March 19).

Mid last year, marigolden  –the moniker for Tasmanian born Mel O'Neill– made her debut with the empowering single 'Taking It Back'. While debuting her contemporary sound the single saw support from Triple J Unearthed, NME, Aus Music Scene, Trouble Juice, Fine Tune Magazine, Broaderlines and Australian community radio.

To follow it up, 'Just Like Smoke' has marigolden laying down velvety rhymes that roll eloquently off her tongue, complemented by spacious clean electric guitar and a gradually growing beat. The warm tones, cool, calm delivery and free-flowing nature of the track feed into the introspective and inspiring sentiments that O'Neill pours out.

Stoking the fire within, O'Neill uses figurative language and colourful lyricism, fueling a message to have belief and trust in one's own power despite the uncertainty of it all. O'Neill explains the meaning behind the track:

"This song is about embracing impermanence. It's about listening to your intuition, investing in yourself so you can care for others, and remembering that nothing, neither good or bad, lasts forever."

marigolden's single 'Just Like Smoke' is out worldwide on Friday, March 19 and in the coming weeks, she will be releasing an accompanying music video.
