PEACH LANE SHARE NEW SINGLE ‘ROLLING’

Canberra dream-pop trio Peach Lane have today released their brand new single ‘Rolling’.

The dream-pop single marks the awaited return for Peach Lane after releasing their debut single ‘House Party’ in 2018 followed by ‘Take This Day’ in late 2019. Between releases the band have kept themselves busy writing and recording new music, as well as performing shows with the likes of Northeast Party House, Odette, and E^ST over the past couple of years.

While forming as a trio in 2018, producer Pierre presented to the band an instrumental titled ‘Rolling’ - a song that came from a triple j Unearthed remix competition for Hermitude’s ‘Ukiyo’ from 2015. Coincidentally, lead vocalist Madeleine had also written an unfinished song titled ‘Rolling’ - a song that spotlights her past life of late night parties and drunken antics.

Together with bassist Hannah, Peach Lane combined the two songs and found that they fit perfectly together. After writing original production parts for the song and tweaking the vocals, the band completed the track that would go on to be an audience favourite in their live sets.

Recorded with Louis Montgomery (Peking Duk, Safia), ‘Rolling’ sees Peach Lane step in a more vibrant direction with the rhythmic percussion driving the synths and keys through the party narrative of the song before stripping back for a muddled and dazed sound to sonically imitate what it’s like to feel intoxicated.

Reflecting on her experiences behind the words, Madeleine said “This song is about those times when you maybe drank too much and woke up in your shoes without much memory of the night before. Sometimes it's fun but sometimes you just take it that little bit too far."

Amidst a busy year of PhDs and house hunting in new cities, Peach Lane are ready to share their next chapter with a debut EP due for release in 2021.
