RACKETT RETURNS WITH NEON SUGAR-POP SINGLE “CRUSH”

DIY Australian indie-pop artist RACKETT has returned with up-tempo sugary pop track “Crush”, co-written, produced and mixed by Dave Hammer (Lime CordialeMia Rodriguez), and mastered by Grammy Award-winning engineer, Joe Laporta (SolangeFKA Twigs).

With a PC-pop slant that evokes comparisons to Sophie and Charli XCX, the quirky, neon track is taken from RACKETT’s debut mini-album, due for release in November 2020.

Crush is my best work yet,” said RACKETT“I’m totally smitten with the lyrics and sound design. Dave and I created layers of experimental sounds, even recording paper ripping in the studio to compliment the lyrics; ‘tear my logic apart, gimme your love get me outta this crush. I love to create music and art that combines both digital and raw elements within one space.”

The single is one of eight tracks co-written and produced by Dave Hammer in Sydney prior to RACKETT’s rebranding in late 2019. After parting ways with her band-mates Ally GavenKat Alaya and Astrid HolzRACKETT’s Rebecca Callander spent a year widening her tastes and experimenting with new sounds while also going on a journey of self-recalibration.

RACKETT has since revealed three singles in her revitalised electro-pop persona - "ILY Alley", "Machinations" and "Oxytoxic" - which have received spins on both triple j and Unearthed, and led to her embarking on a fourteen date headline tour in Japan in late 2019. Upon returning to Australia, RACKETT revealed her new sound and electronic stage show to fans in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane in early 2020.

Bringing her music from the studio to stage is an element of the creative process RACKETT thrives on; her touring teeth have been well and truly sharpened, with bombastic performances on multiple tours alongside the likes of Jack RiverThe GrowlersDZ Deathrays and The Darkness, already under her belt.
