West Australian alt-country artist Siobhan Cotchin returns with a new single ‘The Fair-Weather Friend Blues’, which premiered on triple j Home and Hosed earlier this week. Reflecting on a friendship that sees her being taken for granted and wielding self-worth like a six-shooter - Siobhan’s new single is gonna get you right in the feels.

Showing her in cool command with the throwaway intimacy of the self-assured, ‘The Fair-Weather Friend Blues’ cuts deep but remains unsoured by rejection. Siobhan says of the song, “I wanted to get to the core of my feelings rather than be angry at this friend because sometimes things happen and people can’t always be there for you.” Kicking against the pricks of resentment, she displays a maturity that belies her 20 years.

She goes further, "‘The Fair-Weather Friend Blues’ is a song about those people you have in your life that are there for you, but only when it’s convenient for them. It really is an awful feeling when you are close with someone and you get to know each other inside out, and then one day something changes and you’re not as close anymore.”

Three singles in and Siobhan Cotchin is already making her mark, with her last two singles ‘Just The Way It Is’ and ‘Do You Know What I Mean?’ being added to triple j, Unearthed and RTR. Siobhan has supported the likes of Robert Forster (Go-Betweens), Spacey Jane, Carla Geneve and Abbe May and is also no stranger to accolade having been nominated for WAM Song of the Year and winning the Fairbridge & Nannup Music Festival's Emerging Artist Awards.
